Twelve new affordable rent homes near one of north Norfolk’s most popular seaside towns are nearly finished.

Flagship Homes – the development arm of housing provider Flagship Group – is building the homes off Stiffkey Road in Warham, near Wells-next-the Sea.

The homes, which were part-funded by Homes England North Norfolk District Council (NNDC), will be allocated to people from Warham and surrounding parishes by the volunteer group Homes for Wells.

Stephen Jones, Flagship Homes senior project manager, said: “It’s been such a pleasure to see this project coming together, and we’re excited to provide more high-quality homes for local residents.

“This development reflects our ongoing commitment to building sustainable communities across the region.”

Representatives from NNDC and Homes for Wells recently toured the site, which has a mix of two-bedroom bungalows and two and three-bedroom houses.

Councillor Wendy Fredricks, NNDC’s deputy leader and portfolio holder for housing and people services, said: “I am really thrilled about seeing these fantastic houses being built in this community. These homes are really beautiful to look at and are set up for families to thrive.”

Lynn Burdon, chair of Homes for Wells, said: “It’s an amazing development. It will be great to see 12 local families housed here, in their wonderful new homes in this lovely village.”

The energy efficient homes all have solar panels and air-source heat pumps to supply energy and heating, which were part-funded by the Sheringham Shoal Community Fund. The project is using modern methods of construction (MMC), with elements such as wall panels prefabricated in a factory before assembly on-site – making for faster build times. A new, off-road pathway has also been built, giving a pedestrian link to the village centre.

The homes are due to be finished in January and will then be managed by Flagship’s housing association, Victory Homes.
