Saffron completes 10th site in partnership with Wellington Construction
Saffron Housing Trust is celebrating the handover of the final six new homes in Shipdham, Norfolk. This completes the 24 homes on the site that have been built with priority given to local people.
Partnership working with Wellington Construction started in 2012 and this marks their 10th site working together with Saffron.
Development Officer at Saffron, Hannah Beeslee, said: “The development provides a mixture of homes consisting of two three-bedroom houses, ten two-bedroom houses, six one-bedroom flats and six one-bedroom bungalows, to meet the needs of a wide variety of potential tenants.
“We were really pleased to get the opportunity to continue working with Wellington Construction, they take great pride in the properties they provide.”
The final six properties, all for affordable rent, are made up of four two-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom houses. The site received a Homes England Grant with help from Homes England Partner, Orwell Housing Association who provided development services and secured the grant funding bid.
Saffron’s CEO James Francis recently visited the Shipdham site, to see the homes that had been built, and said: “We are delighted that by partnering with Orwell and Wellington we have been able to provide 24 more sustainable homes for rent in a great location.”
Managing Director of Wellington Construction, Paul Pitcher, added: “The scheme at Shipdham is a great example of how Wellington identifies a development opportunity, secures the land and then introduces to a development partner. This scheme is one of many successful schemes where Saffron and Wellington have worked and partnered together to deliver much needed affordable housing.”
