From the water to bricks and mortar for one Norfolk couple
Saffron Housing Trust has recently helped a Norfolk couple move into their new home after years of living on a boat.
For the past 11 years, Mr and Mrs Murray lived on a boat in St Olaves near Great Yarmouth. In October, they moved into their new affordable home in Ditchingham due to Mrs Murray’s health.
Speaking to Saffron, Mr Murray said “Our new home ticks all the boxes for us. For years I couldn’t bear to be indoors, but this property doesn’t make me feel like that at all. We are delighted with the kitchen and the garden and love that the park is so close to the house, and the daily chores are certainly easier to do now.”
Liz Ross, Saffron Neighbourhood Officer for the area, said: “It’s nice to see happy customers who have got a new home and found the *Home Options process smooth and efficient”.
“It is also satisfying to know that each individual that they came in to contact with was very helpful and provided continued guidance throughout the whole process”.
Mr and Mrs Murray couldn’t agree more: “We can’t get over how helpful all the staff were at both South Norfolk District Council and Saffron, we haven’t got access to the internet, so we did struggle at the beginning but with their help and guidance it all moved along really quickly.
“We have had a really good experience with Saffron and are both very happy with our home.”
Since January 2019, Saffron have let 508 properties to new customers providing a total of almost 6,500 homes to people in need across Norfolk and Suffolk.
