Flagship Group awarded Regional Housing Association of the Year
Flagship Group has been named ‘Regional Housing Association of the Year’ at the 2021 East of England Energy Efficiency Awards, demonstrating the Groups true commitment to energy efficiency within the region.
The award is designed to recognise the commitment a housing organisation has shown to improving the energy efficiency of its homes and improving the lives of its tenants and local communities.
In the last year, the Group has invested more than £2 million on insulating its homes through a series of energy efficiency measures. These include more than 2500 loft and cavity wall insulation measures, 43 external wall insulation measures, 38 underfloor insulation measures and 400 renewable heating systems.
Flagship has also been trailing robotic underfloor insulation in 38 of its homes, which has helped to make tenants homes warmer and reduced energy bills by an average of £125 per year. Already looking to the future, The Group has identified 2000 more of its homes which may be suitable for this new use of technology.
Megan Gonsalves, Energy and Sustainability Manager at Flagship said: “We are delighted to have won this award which reflects our commitment to providing energy efficient homes across the East of England. In the last year we have invested significantly in understanding and improving the energy efficiency of our homes, improving the lives of our tenants and reducing cases of fuel poverty.
“In Autumn 2021, we are producing our Environmental Sustainability strategy for our homes, which will include an energy plan on how we intend to bring all of our existing homes up to an EPC rating of C or above by 2030, and aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
In winning the regional award for the East of England, Flagship will now go forward to the National Energy Efficiency Awards which are due to be held in February 2022.
