Housing partnership will deliver new affordable homes in Norwich

• Plans to deliver 157 new affordable homes
• 87 affordable rent and 70 shared ownership homes
• Funding received from Homes England

East of England housing provider, Flagship Group and leading homes developer Lovell, are working in partnership to design and build new homes in Rackheath, Norwich, all of which will be affordable housing.

The scheme, Trinity Meadow, will deliver a total of 157 new affordable homes; made up of 87 affordable rent and 70 shared ownership homes, with a large area of green open space for residents to enjoy.

29 of the new homes will be reserved for those living in the parish of Rackheath, or the surrounding areas, so that families and individuals are able to afford a home in the area where they grew up.

Tony Tann, Managing Director of Flagship’s development company said: “We’re very pleased to be working in partnership with Lovell on this development. With their expertise we will be one step closer to our goal of solving the housing crisis in the East of England.

“The partnership will create much needed affordable housing in the Norwich area, and the option of shared ownership will help people get onto the property ladder with the opportunity to purchase their first home.”

The new development will include a combination of two, three and four-bedroom homes, along with several bungalows. This mix of tenure, and the variation in the type and size of homes, will ensure a varied and balanced community. The local community will also benefit from a new cycle route and upgraded woodland path, both from Salhouse Road.

Simon Medler, Regional Managing Director at Lovell, said: “We have a strong relationship with Flagship that has been built over the past 20 years and we’re thrilled to be working in partnership on this all affordable development coming soon to Rackheath.

“This £24.3m project will allow us to deliver much needed housing in Norfolk, whilst boosting the local economy and benefitting the surrounding community.”

Flagship has also received Government grant funding from Homes England, which has helped support the costs of the new development.

Work on site began earlier this month and will be completed over 11 phases across the next three years. The show home is expected to open in early 2022, with the new homes expected to be completed by 23 December 2023.

Flagship and Lovell’s partnership will help maximise the number of quality homes being delivered in the East of England. Together, they are also working on delivering a further 335 mixed tenure homes at William’s Park in Wymondham.
