Affordable homes plans remain on track

New homes planned across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire

At settle, throughout our response to COVID-19 we’ve been working to support the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, residents and communities.

As a social landlord we know it is vital that we also continue to deliver much-needed affordable new homes. Our new corporate plan commitment is to build 1,500 homes by 2024 – 90% of which will be affordable, and we’re on track to do this.

We’re pleased to see developments moving forwards across our sites in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire including three which will see us building over 200 new homes.

The three sites include:

  • John Barker Place, Hitchin, Hertfordshire: Our £20 million regeneration of the Westmill Estate – providing 83 homes and two shops through the first two phases and additional homes through a third phase.
  • Hitchin Road, Arlesey, Bedfordshire; Providing 58 homes – 30 for shared ownership and 28 for rent.
  • Roker Park, Stotfold, Central Bedfordshire – we recently completed a new football stadium and community facilities, releasing the landon the site of the former football stadium where we are building 62 affordable homes – 39 for shared ownership and 23 for rent.

Gavin Cansfield, chief executive at settle, said: “At settle, we’re working closely with partners and residents to invest in neighbourhoods and good quality new homes. While the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has been tough for our customers and colleagues alike, it is really pleasing to see everyone’s hard work paying off with the continuation of these new developments.”
